Passing the buck

I am getting sick. My throat is scratchy and it hurts and my nose is all stuffed up and still I continue to chainsmoke my morning away. Cigarettes are gonna start to taste real funny soon. And, as if this doesn't already happen enough, I can't sleep. Oh, I thought about calling out of work today, but that would leave only the two new girls there all night. The ensuing disaster would not be worth one day of rest, peace, and quietude, only for me to return tomorrow to a shower of complaints and chaos and swear words and hellfire and brimstone and the whole place a complete shit mess. Wait...I'm off tomorrow! If I call out today and leave those two by themselves, the consequences will fall on someone else's head. Woohoo! I gotta go make a phone call...
