"If you want a friend, feed any animal..."

I would like to introduce the newest member of my family, Igby. Igby is a Deer Mouse, species Peromyscus maniculatus. He had been previously living under the safe in my boss's office, until today, when I happened to notice mousetraps in my boss's hands as he came sauntering up the third aisle. Now, I wasn't having any of that. So I ripped the mousetraps from my boss's evil grip and, together with a coworker of mine, set out a few breadcrusts to lure Igby out from under the safe. After a few attempts (and a few hours), we managed to trap him very gently under a large cup and deposit him into a cardboard box, in which he rode home with me and will now make his little homenest in a tank on my dresser (away from my feline children; they're not permitted in the bedroom). Tonight, my Steve and I will trek to the 24 hour Walmart to buy our new pet some nice fresh wood shavings and a water bottle, and perhaps even one of those excercise wheels. Call me crazy, but I just couldn't leave him to the mercy of my boss, or this twelve degree weather we are having.
